CW: Workplace Sexual Harassment
This is they type of book I enjoy reading all in one sitting. It’s relatively short (~175 pages), and the plot moves quickly. The plot moves through Kim Jiyoung’s life, summarizing the events as they happen. She grows up, goes to school, tries to have a career, gets married, has a kid, tries to continue to have a career.
The quick pace of the plot really works for the book because it it quite obvious how events link to each other and how the totality of her life looks so far. The text also includes footnotes to show the sources when facts and statistics are used. The story of Kim Jiyoung’s life is supposed to represent the experience that many women have, and I think that the writing did that really well.
I would recommend picking this one up. It’s a short read but one that I found really impactful and I’ve been thinking about the ending ever since!
