The narrator is the only reason I finished this one. The book itself is so so so slow. Two hours into it, there's still no actual story, just rambling about the history of the O'Malley history. I almost gave up at that point, but ultimately decided the narrators' voice was soothing enjoy that, if anything, I was content to continue listening because if I fell asleep or completely zoned out, it was fine with me.
There were bright spots in the story eventually but they were few and far between. I will say, the descriptions and atmosphere were beautiful. I'm not familiar with a lot of the folklore used throughout, but the mer, kelpie, and ghosts were very interesting and were by far my favourite part of this book.
