i think this book would have been able to push its way into the 4 stars pile if it wasn't for one detail: this would have been so much better if it was an independant story and not snow white. for 75% of the runtime i struggled to see where the ~snow white~ elements came in. granted, snow white is (in my opinion) one of the more boring fairy tales, with characters with funny names and little backstory. but even this felt TOO original to be considered a retelling. eve's character was also super inconsistent at the beginning in a way i couldn't help but notice. i tried to suspend my disbelief, i swear!
