The twist was good and I didn’t rlly see it coming … but I feel like the Philip Marlowe as the narrator and detective was way too confusing as a person to enjoy the story.  He wasn’t quite ethical, he wasn’t quite nice, he wasn’t quite a woman hater but didn’t quite love them either, he wasn’t quite a lover of the law even though he tried to institute it.  Everything he did felt so random and confusing where it was hard to enjoy the book bc it felt so random and plucked from thin air.  Also oh my god I feel like Raymond chandler was projecting w the story (like Orwell in 1984) with the relationships and affairs he had w women - they were so unrealistic and just downright uncomfortable to read lol
