Leather & Lark by Brynne Weaver
2.0
The winning formula of the first book was unfortunately not applied to this one. In my mind, I imagined this book would be the steamiest of the trilogy. Oh dear, I couldn't have been more wrong... The narrative revolves heavily around the internal monologues of the two main protagonists, mainly their doubts and endless ruminations on each other's feelings. There's an overuse of pet names, which I quickly tired of. In the end, I found myself more interested in the petty plot than the interactions between the main characters. Lark's grandmother is the queen she knows she is. Despite this letdown, I'm still curious to see what might happen to the last Kane brother, Fionn, and Rose in the final book
