Anne did an amazing job developing this story. I wasn't the biggest fan of [b:Dragonsong|28541|Dragonsong (Harper Hall, #1)|Anne McCaffrey|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1407659596s/28541.jpg|1171182] but now that I have read this, I understand why all of Dragonsong was necessary. She does an amazing job building Menolly and giving depth to her character. I was blown away by how well she depicted a central character that had been abused and put down. Some might find her excessive use of apologizing too much, but I find it accurate.
