Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

1.0

Felt like the writer was trying very hard to make it complicated and impressive, but guess what? It did not impress me and the complicated part only made me hate the reading process even more. And how much fantasy is there anyway? It is all gangs and thieves and selling and sailing skipping scenes (I love sailing scenes) and who doesn’t have a traumatic past? No one. I don’t like it when my expectations get smashed to the ground.
And I made a mistake to fool myself into liking it and picking up the next book and after 3 weeks of reading Crooked Kingdom and I’m barely halfway through it, I admitted (for the trillion time) that I do not like the whole geishaverse series, not the shadow bone trilogy ( only completed it because of the Darkling and he was killed at the end, and I had nothing left in that world) and not six of crows and half the crooked kingdom (I don’t like any character in this).
And I can’t comprehend how they do the most risky stuff and come out of it alive. And do you know what? At some point I realized that I don’t care if they live or die, they’re a bunch of kids doing very big stuff, risking everything and what a very mature minds they have that they can come out alive from every shitty trouble!?. And I will develop a new reading rule inspired by this series that the reading stops when you start not giving a shit what happens to the characters, and rule #2 don’t buy paper packs for the whole series at the same time(I only bought six of crows, thank god).
God, I feel so much better. Now I will go give my real rating to the shadow and bone, completely based on my feelings and not if the books are well written or not. I will let my feelings decide.
