Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney

“Isn’t love like breathing, isn’t it instinct; something we are born knowing how to do? Or, is love like speaking French? If nobody teaches you you’ll never be fluent; and if you don’t practice you forget how?”
A couple on the brink of divorce travel to a remote corner of Scotland hoping this getaway could be a last-ditch effort to save their relationship. Almost immediately though unexplained and haunting events start happening; it becomes clear that someone or something wants to make sure at least one of them is never able to leave.
I highly recommend listening to this one by audiobook. The chapters alternate between the husband and wife each one picking up at the moment the last one ended. In the audiobook there are two voice actors which drives home the distinctions of how each of them think and hear one another.
