One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

1.0

THIS BOOK WAS SO BAD LIKE LAUGHABLY BAD! I genuinely can’t believe people like this book. The plot twist was such a cop out and probably was done so the author can write sequels for these characters that no one cares about. The characters did not feel like real people that felt like cliches and that’s it. The author pulled on the teen archetypes that John Hughes did in The Breakfast Club but instead of delving deep into who the characters are as people and not who society sees them, Karen Mc. Manus did absolutely nothing. She did not develop these characters to be more than their cliches. She also does not know how to write teenagers. One character in this book had an ipod in 2017!?!!? Nate and Bronwyn’s relationship was such a bore and I couldn’t bring myself to care. Bad boy and good girl trope could be great when done well but again this author does not have the writing skill to pull it off. The only enjoyable feeling I had while reading this book was making fun of it.
