It's hard to know what to say about Beloved. It makes you imagine living the life of a slave and the so called life of a 'freed' slave. It makes you imagine a life so horrific you would rather murder your children than let them go back to that life. It makes you imagine the life you would have after making that decision. And the story (based on true events) and characters are revealed to us layer by layer, as they are in all good stories. And the writing!! Wow, food for the soul!!
