Grimstone by Sophie Lark
3.75
Grimstone was a spicy and dark romance and it had some spooky vibes as well. Remi and her brother decided to renovate their late uncle’s decrepit house in a small town, but it was definitely creepy. The neighbor owned the road leading up to the house and naturally he was handsome, kind of a jerk, but radiated a vibe that Remi wanted to explore.
I felt like there were some potential haunted moments and I wanted to know what was going on at night in Remi’s house and also if Dane was a murderer. The spice was a bit instant with a ton of miscommunication, which I didn’t enjoy as much as if they would’ve had a slow burn and some hate to love tension.. the hate to love tension didn’t work out when they were also slamming into each other and trying to be exclusive.
Overall, I liked the mystery and how it all turned out in the end. It was extremely spicy with some questionable encounters (like should a doctor stitching you up really be a lustful moment? Probably not?) but Remi seemed to have fun and learned she maybe was a good judge of character.
It was a good read if you’re looking for a quick spicy spooky book with instalust. I’d definitely read more from the author again.
