I've been loving memoirs lately, and Satrapi's graphic memoir is an absolute gem. PERSEPOLIS details Satrapi's experience growing up in Iran and what being Iranian means to her. It is equal parts funny, heartbreaking, and informative, and Satrapi's bold black-and-white art is the perfect vessel to help tell her story. Though vast in scope and heavy with content, PERSEPOLIS is incredibly welcoming and relatable.
