If I were still in college and Tom Dasher still teaching Post Modern Lit, this would be on the syllabus.
I'm blown away by the structure - a teleplay - and the author's ability to blend "real life" and "acting" seamlessly, proving his point about Asian American tropes in Hollywood and stereotypes in American culture. The story of Asian immigrants to and in America is a terrible one (hello internment camps, but that's just the tip of the iceberg) and even still they are often just the "generic Asian" part in culture and art though they deserve so much more.
This was amusing at times, but very challenging as the author turned the bright set lights on the plight of Asian Americans.
I absolutely recommend this.
