The Inmate by Freida McFadden
5.0
Brooke Sullivan is a single mom who has moved back to her family home after her parents death.
She and her son are getting a fresh start. Her son a new home and school and her a new job. She is working as the new nurse practitioner at the mens maximum security prison. There are the typical rules to follow, but little does everyone know that shes already broken them all. She has a connection to one of the inmates. Her high school boyfriend, Shane Nelson. He is spending his life in prison for a string of murders and it was Brookes testimony that put him there.
Brooke reconnected with her childhood best friend Tim. Tim was also there the night if the murders and barely survived. He and Brooke rekindle their friendship and also a romantic relationship.
Meanwhile Brooke has treated Shane twice while working at the prison. Each time him claiming his innocence to her, blaming the murders on Tim.
Brooke is conflicted but is still trusting her guy that Shane is the one who committed the crimes.
That is until another women linked to Tim’s past goes missing.
Who is really behind the murders? Who can Brooke trust? The twist will truly shock you. I did not see the ending coming and loved it.
I read this book fairly quickly. It switched between past and present and with short chapters the books was an easy read.
I really enjoyed it and highly recommend.
