Ashley is such a gifted writer, and I have loved and eaten up every one of her books since discovering her as an author but this one just didn’t really hit for me in the end. It was pretty slow and I found myself taken out of the story a lot and not really bought into the characters until the last 35 pages. Which is sloowww.

I was a little unconvinced about her and Anders, it didn’t feel as natural or as clicky as the other characters in her novels usually do to me. I did find myself chuckling up near the end when she goes and he stays but it was a sweet little character redemption and growth and I appreciated that so much. It was a tender book with a few pricks to the soul, but in the end it was just meh. And sometimes not all books are gonna be for yah.
