Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

5.0

This is my dad's favourite book and I read it purely because of his love for it. I'll always adore Whale's Frankenstein pictures, as well as Hammer Horror's Curse of Frankenstein and Brookes' hilarious Young Frankenstein--but nothing can quite live up to this complex, macabre, heartbreaking masterpiece. I admit, letters at the very beginning of the novel are a little dry and hard to comprehend the first time you read it. In fact, the first time I read Frankenstein I admit to skipping the letters (I have since amended this in my multiple rereads). The themes and imagery this book concocts will continue to haunt me for the rest of my life.
