Princess on the Brink by Meg Cabot

2.0

I've gotten slightly addicted to this series. There's something about it that just keeps me reading and because all of them are quick reads, it's easy to just power through them. However, while this one was the normal quick and fluffy read that I'm coming to expect from this series, it got incredibly annoying!

Yes Mia is usually a slightly immature heroine but that's a bit to be expected because of her age and there has always been a decent amount of growth so it's more endearing than a hindrance to the story. However, in this volume, I thought that she was extremely immature with no redeeming moments of growth! The way she handled the idea of sex and the loss of virginity seemed realistic at first but then she didn't ever progress in her thinking and behaviors. It was especially annoying when every single other character was telling her how immature she was being and it was impossible for her to change her mindset and her actions. To make matters worse the overuse of "my precious gift" was maddening!!!

I still want to finish the series, especially with the new book, Royal Wedding, out, but I really hope that she displays a bit more maturity in the next couple.
