The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood

4.0

I wasn't completely blown away with this book, but it is an important piece of literature, and I am very happy I've read it. I love how the reader's point of view is through Offred's perspective. Not knowing exactly how everything got so bad in this dystopian future was one of my favorite parts. Because there was only a vague explanation on why this all happened the reader can fill in the blanks which makes this story relevant, even 30 years after it was first written. The ending is a bit dissatisfying, but I appreciate why it was left so open-ended. The Handmaid's Tale is an engaging, must-read book. If you haven't picked it up already I highly recommend it!
