WOW. Jennifer Hartmann does it again. Rips my heart out of my chest, throws it through a wood chipper, then tosses it back to me to pick up the pieces.
This was such a beautiful story. The way she writes evokes every emotion you can think of.
I love Oliver with all my heart. While The reason behind his naivety was incredibly heartbreaking, his innocence was so endearing. The way he loved her was just 🤌🏻
Sydney was up and down for me but I know her actions all stemmed from her trauma. I ended up liking her in the end. My only complaint was when Oliver was tied to the bed post with flames engulfing them and rather than find something to cut the ropes, she just commits to dying with him…. While sweet, that is really dumb.
I will think about this book for a long time. Amazing.
