Insatiable by Meg Cabot
0.25
This would have normally gotten a 2.5-3 ⭐️ but there were FOUR DIFFERENT SEXUAL ASSAULT scenes, all of which were quickly moved passed and excused, three of which were committed by the same guy, who we’re supposed to see as a misunderstood antihero but in actuality, especially in his later perspective chapters, is the most rapey, Nice Guy™️ motherfucker to ever exist in fiction, to the point that I cannot believe that this was written by a woman and meant to be taken non-satirically. I hope Meg Cabot is deeply ashamed of this book because if I was it’s author I’d be trying to get rid of every copy in existence. Only finished this book out of spite and to give it the rating it so deserves.
Graphic: Sexual assault
Moderate: Sexual harassment
Main character gets groped, kissed without consent, and, in two separate instances, has men literally feeling up her skirt to get to her private parts. All of these scenes are greatly detailed, yet treated as benign plot points, and never get addressed again, while the male perpetrators are treated—and even directly referred to—as “heroes”. I wanna strangle someone.
