In the best way possible this book was not itđź«Ą
Firstly..the triggers, Jesus be a fence, that synopsis ain’t tell us not a damn thang so for folks who need them ⚠️ child death by cancer (off page), child molestation (off page), drug abuse and addiction
Ok so, there’s ALOT OF SHIT that happens in this book and I hate that it’s so short because you could tell she really wanted to do some good stuff here but baby not in 300 pages. And we see her growth as an author in her later works.
In the beginning I was like mkay cute, we’ve met the characters, they’re a bit bland for my liking but whatever she’s about to show out. No no that did not happen. I wasn’t hooked until about 30% when the first bomb was dropped. So we know KR writes deep topics and the beginnings are gonna be slow but I at least need some gooooood character development and it’s just not here.
Then we get to know the little love triangle thing which this is my bad, triangles are a ick🤢 for me, I just don’t care for that drama give me something else!! But the triangle was bland as hell! They were literally 2 little boys who had some sort of privilege even though one grew up in the foster system like it’s not believable with how they are acting and it just didn’t work for me.
Then something random and huge happens and we get a short quick glimpse of the scenario and then it’s resolved. I feel like a ransom should’ve been a bit of a longer resolution, hell Tony Stark was in the cave longer than this man was🥴
Then Mama got sick it was just toooo much in a short amount of time and she did not flesh the people out and so it just felt like a stream of consciousness like oo this sounds good, oo this sounds good, ooo this will make it spicy, and I was just annoyed by it all.
Theeennn this is a dual POV….it was not done well lol I was so confused. And the time hopping I just couldn’t. As I put my thoughts to paper I’m changing my review to a 2. lol
