Kindred by Octavia E. Butler

5.0

This is one of those books that I'm slightly embarrassed not to have read earlier. How could I have even called myself a fan of speculative fiction? It's the smartest usage of the grandfather paradox I've encountered. It's also absolutely fucking harrowing.
Reams have been written about it by fans and academics, and I don't have much else to add except: don't be like me; read Kindred as soon as possible.
