Odd and the Frost Giants by Neil Gaiman
5.0
I've always been partial to Norse mythology children's books but Odd and the Frost Giants is one of the best. Though it's a short read, Gaimen manages to weave a rich world into a fun story. I loved the relationships between the Bear, Fox and Eagle, they were charming.
I'm not going to ruin the story but I must say that Gaimen's understanding of the gods was refreshing. He didn't bastardise them like many modern stories but just wrote them as they had been while also making the concept more simple.
