Forged in Fire and Stars by Andrea Robertson
4.0
This book was stunning!
The first thing I must say, however, is that it started out kind of fast, but at the same time, slow. What I mean by this is, the inciting incident happened rather quickly, but the majority of the exposition hadn't been established.
However, this did work in favor for "Forged in Fire and Stars." I really enjoyed the action and learning that went along with the plot. It was also very interesting to see how the gods had a hand in everything and how the groups' journey progressed.
I am very thankful that Andrea Robertson did NOT have multiple POVs like most books with this style of setting and writing do. It really kept me on track and allowed me to immerse myself in the story.
My favorite part was obviously Teth. The sarcastic, funny thief honestly had me swooning the whole time. I foresaw him and *spoiler* Ara together.
There were a few things that didn't work out well. This book was not the fast-paced action promised by the synopsis ("Game of Thrones"), and the characters (to me at least) didn't develop at all. They seemed to have the same demeanor and ways of thinking throughout the whole book. It was obviously a set-up for a good series.
I actually loved it, despite unpopular opinions about it, and I can't wait for "Cast in Secrets and Shadows" in 2021!!!
