Leave the Grave Green by Deborah Crombie

2.0

Rating 2.4* out of 5. There isn't anything in particular wrong with this book - I just didn't enjoy any of it. Although I am now familiar with Superintenden Duncan Kincaid and Seargant Gemma James, I didn't feel that they moved in a positive direction here. I didn't really care about them and much less the other, less familiar characters.

The story begins with how Julia loses her little brother, the darling of her parents, in a drowning accident. Many years later her own husband, Connor Swann, is found in a Thames river lock and the past must come back to haunt them all.

I expected a nice little heart warming mystery and what I got was something that felt drab and uninteresting. I wanted desperately to like it and I will probably make another attempt at the series. I will be chosing my weekend reads more carefully in the future - at least the next couple of weeks, until I forget or simply am unlucky. "How to leave boring books as soon as possible" is clearly something I need to practice.
