Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah
5.0
Rounded up from 4.5 stars ⭐️
Firefly lane follows the lives of Tully and Kate, two girls who meet as teens and become best friends. The story covers the highs and lows their friendship faces over the decades.
I think this book my have ripped my heart out. By the end I had tears streaming down my face. It conveyed so many important messages. Highlighting the importance of true love/family (although not necessarily in the conventional sense), the dangers of inflammatory breast cancer and the power of real friendships.
I loved the bond that Tully and Kate had, and often found myself reflecting on the important friendships in my life. However, the only reason this book lost stars for me was that it was a very slow burner. I understand how helpful it is to have such a rich background. It helped connect me to the characters and made the ending more profound. However, there were times when I struggled to pick up the book because I couldn’t understand the hype. The ending helped turn it around for me, but not completely.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this book and will definitely be getting my hands on the sequel.
