The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë

5.0

[5 Stars] I wasn't supposed to finish this tonight and goodness knows it is really late... but I just couldn't help myself from doing so. I loved this book so so much, particularly Helen's written portions. I thought it was far superior to Anne Bronte's other work Agnes Grey and is severely under-hyped when compared to Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights. I felt in some ways that it reminded me of both of those well known books because it seemed to derive bits and pieces from each while still maintaining its own original story. I loved this. Gilbert's character was not necessarily my favorite, but I warmed up towards him in the end, and thought Mr. Huntingdon was a particularly interesting if not tragic character. Helen was great and strong and slightly cold if not too pious for my taste at times. Overall, I loved this. It has made its way onto my favorites shelf for sure.
