No Cure for Being Human (And Other Truths I Need to Hear) by Kate Bowler

emotional hopeful inspiring reflective medium-paced

3.0

No Cure for Being Human (as an audiobook) is getting a 3 ONLY BECAUSE Kate Bowler's story leaves no room, I think, for any other activity outside of reading. I wanted to see her words, underline them, and maybe stare blankly at a wall from time to time. She still sounded lovely and her humor still made me smile, but this book is a whisper of sacredness -- and that's not something I often hear audibly. I loved it, but I probably would've appreciated it more had I held it with both hands. We'll never know now because I also won't purchase a physical copy of this book given that I only gave it three stars.

(Also, I used to write grants for kids with terminal brain cancer, so when she shared her experience with clinical trials, I remembered. 😢)
