This book truly opened my eyes to how the media glorifies serial killers. I realized while reading this book that I was complacent in believing the exaggerations the media brewed up about Ted Bundy specifically. Obviously, I thought he was a terrible, awful human being; but I believed he got away with his crimes for so long because of his smarts and charm. In actuality, he just had a slew of incompetent police officers unknowingly aid him in his killing spree. 

One fact I really enjoyed in the book was the way the main character never called the killer by his name, nor the name the media gave him, instead choosing to simply call him The Defendant. In doing so, she took the power his name holds away from him, reducing him to nothing more than a snotty, childish man who was responsible for the deaths of multiple women.
