It's been a long time since I've read a book that was so well-written, well-developed, and fascinating as this one. I've seen the rave reviews for it, but I didn't quite believe them until I started reading and now I get it.
There are so many reasons to love this book:
1- The characters are funny and complicated and very real. Getting the background of Locke and Jean made them so much more interesting and so much more real to me and I really appreciated that.
2- The plot was complicated and brilliant. There was so much going on and so many different complications and ways things were going and it was so fun to see how it all turned out. And I was definitely invested in this story more than I get in most books. It hurt to see my favorite characters hurting and I couldn't wait to find out how Locke and Jean would get out of their latest mess.
3-It was beautifully written. The writing was fantastic. I especially loved how it would jump between Locke and Jean growing up and their current adventures. That came together in a very satisfying way at the end.
4- The world was magnificent and incredibly well-built. It was interesting to have so many different cultures and types of people coming together in this one society and very gratifying to be part of that world.
Everyone should read this book. It's absolutely fantastic.
