Normal People by Sally Rooney

4.0

i am really conflicted about how i feel upon reading this. at first, i guess i was expecting a certain kind of feeling that conversations with friends had made me experienced. i don't think myself as an objective reader, and i don't think i have high standards at all, but this book just didn't really do anything for me. i was just waiting for the end to happen, without really getting attached to either of the characters.

the narration seemed off and i don't really get the timeline. i get the profoundness of their situations, but it just seemed so repetitive i even thought of leaving this book and quit reading it. the writing is decent, though it isn't really exceptional.

i am not going to pretend i get the appeal but maybe i just lack the empathy or the comprehension to fully grasp the implicit message/s this book is wanting to convey
