The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles

2.0

Ugh I so wanted to like this book, but it's just... not good? The mix of supernatural and modern life did not work at all. The rules of the world weren't established, which just led the book into a complete clusterf*ck of a narrative. Also the whole "fall in love instantly and risking your entire family's life for a hot alien dude you just met" trope is gag-inducing.

I assume the author will write sequels to explain the rules of the world, but I think it's ridiculous to have to read another book to figure out how the first one works. Why waste the reader's time?

I thought the first third of the book was interesting and kept my interest (hence 2 stars) but once I realized we weren't getting any answers to any of the numerous questions the book presents, I lost it. Took me forever to actually finish it after that.
