I liked but didn't love this book. I'm not sure if it was too much of Renee's personal life (aka her mother), or Maddie, but it wasn't as good as some prior books in the series. I don't mind the shifted focus away from Bosch due to his age, but Maddie isn't grabbing me as much as her father did. I think, in part, because I still see her as the spoiled child of earlier books. I liked the plots about Renee's badge, and Colleen though, so I'd still recommend the book
