This book goes hard. No one targeted comes out of this unscathed and for that, it is beyond compelling.
Kuang's ability to somehow present a fully realized and nuanced character in only a few paragraphs is on peak display here (Geoff, the publishing team, and a handful more). And it's clear this was a cathartic project for her, which makes it a fantastically (uncomfy but enjoyably so) spectacular read.
I'm glad I didn't leave this one on the TBR for even longer.
