3.0
I would've liked it a lot more if i'd read the others in the series, probably a 3.5 star
pros:
- v. imaginative and engaging with lots of cool ideas, plot, and worldbuilding
- all characters were interesting and multifaceted, even the small side ones like Mrs Earwig
- some strong female characters and gentle male ones
- good writing and I liked the depiction of the feegles' accent
- liked how the faeries were mostly dangerous, but also people who could change
cons:
- quite confused at the start, but probably because I hadn't read the other books, though there did seem to be a lot of new characters and plot threads too all at once
- a few wife-hating jokes in there
