I had been looking forward to the journey of the bad boy of the Valentine Clan – Darby Valentine. The youngest of the Valentine Boys; he is the one who went really off the railings after what happened with his family; and even years later and getting his life back on track, his past as a screw up still follows him around.

A fact that is something that his older brothers still hold over his head; a fact that he is trying really hard not to feel bitter about; but it all comes to a head when Darby, finally getting his life on track, as a part time rodeo star and now a proud holder of a college degree and a job as a Professor – is not something that his brothers feel too happy about. Instead of celebrating his accomplishments, things are said that make sure that Darby remains estranged from his brothers. (I have really liked the rest of the Valentine brothers; but I swear, I wanted to kick their behinds in this book!)
Waylynn, is someone we were introduced to in the previous books, as one of the only woman who doesn’t fall for Darby’s charm – and with her as Darby’s interest in this book; I was really expecting more hostile and hate sparks; but other than a few moments, I swear Darby and Waylynn came together as pieces of a puzzle.

Waylynn between her absent minded father; and a house he bought but she is the one taking care of; and not finding a job where she can use her degree has a lot on her plate – and the hotness and charm that is Darby isn’t helping matters. And after they start living together; it is their solid friendship that when it actually brings them together is sizzling Hot! Plus, their support and utter loyalty to each other warmed what is supposed to be a cold dead heart!
Darby, I swear is my favourite Valentine ever – he is strong, he is accepting of his own past and has done a brilliant job of actually making himself into an adult who I respected and admired. Plus, Waylynn was his perfect partner – she is the one who doesn’t take his charm at face value; and they are each other’s biggest cheerleader!
I do wish, that the conflict amongst the Valentine brothers got a little more page time – it would have been an interesting read + I know LLV said that she wouldn’t revisit this family in the near future – I really hope Gibson, our Darby’s best friend definitely NEEDS his own journey to HEA!
