February 2025 (4 stars):
This one was a bit more entertaining than the last (maybe because I annotated the shit out of it lol). But this rating is purely entertainment based because this one was even more unhinged than the last one. Making out in a field of dead bodies?!! Sorry?! 

But I just have to give it a 4 because although I found myself rolling my eyes several times throughout it, it gave me a world to escape into when I needed it. Fantasy just does that, and I’m excited to get into better written stories after I’m done with this one. 

I could do without the smut though 🙏 the thing is, you can’t skip it because there are sometimes key plot points hidden in there LMAOo like what  

Anyways, I’m a bit scared to continue the series because now I will be going in without a biased opinion. Crazy how much taste can change in only 2 years. This is why I don’t re read books because I know I’ll be like 🤨. I won’t be surprised if the next read is a 2 star LOL

im so upset that i must now wait however long to see what will happen next :(

i genuinely love this series. JLA is so good at world building, to the point where sometimes I forget i'm reading. theres a perfect amount of everything in these books; action, angst, love, great character dynamics. i honestly cant remember every single detail of fbaa cause its been awhile but i feel the exact same way for that series. i dont read a lot of fantasy so i cant really have an opinion on this, but her writing style for romance/fantasy might be my favoutite. its just so good. 

i cant wait to read more about nyktos & sera, i miss them already ☹️ 

side note, would actually die for JLA to make a sapphic romance/fantasy book, she'd kill it

also i annotated the shit out of this which is why it took my forever to read, it was getting a little discouraging but i wanted my book to look pretty hehe. and it does!
