One of the best books in the VORKOSIGAN saga. A compelling mystery and a moving drama at once. We are introduced to the compelling and delightful character of Ekaterin and continue to explore Miles’ adaptation to his new life after the events of Memory. The story also explores the effects of imperial occupation and integration. As always, Bujold’s character work is the heart of the story, and you feel every wound that these characters carry in their minds and souls.
