Devil in the Grove: Thurgood Marshall, the Groveland Boys, and the Dawn of a New America by Gilbert King

5.0

An absolutely riveting work of journalism rife with excellence in story telling. King’s fantastically well researched tale is as shocking as any work of fiction ever was, and is even worse because it’s all true. I’d never heard of this case before picking up the book, but it covers every conceivable angle and along the way details the shocking legal history not just of Florida but of the entire country. Anyone interested in legal tales or who is searching for context about the racist history of America would do well the pick up this remarkable page turner.
