Gorgeous illustrations! There are so many familiar markers in these tales, and just when you think you have the shape or pattern of it, there is a strange reversal. So many of the structures I know in these tales is reversed. Reading this was like encountering The Grandmother's Tale for the first time.

My partner and I took to reading each other the tales aloud to one another, one every few nights or so. It drew the collection out so we could savor it.
