Disclaimer: An eARC was provided via Publisher via Netgalley in exchnage for an honest review. The Thoughts, opinions & feelings expressed in the review are therefore, my own.
I requested this eARC because I was feeling nostalgic about reading small town western romances - and lo and behold [b:Silver Creek Fire|51161305|Silver Creek Fire (Silver Creek, #1)|Lindsay McKenna|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1582085143l/51161305._SY75_.jpg|75941750] dropped on my Kindle after I requested it on Netgalley.
Lea, a woodworker, is just shifting to a whole new town-to try a move on from a past trauma-and her mistrust of men. She is welcomed to her new town by being run off the road; and then rescued by her new boss; a man she instinctively knows is "not like all men".
I really wanted to enjoy this one-but Lea made it really hard-she not only ran hot and cold; but for a grown woman; she did really act immature for her age. Plus, the plotting of the book was sketchy -the pacing had me starting and stopping the book multiple times.
[this is a pet peeve of mine; I love to read a book through, especially if I am in mood to read; and then comes a book that does not cooperate with my mood.]
While I am not a fan of the insta-love plot twist; Logan was one of the positive aspects of the book along with a wonderful collection of secondary characters who had me invested-may be enough to have me pick up the next books in the series.
Time will tell.
