I read I Am the Messenger before anyone had even heard of The Book Thief and it quickly became a favorite. In fact, the only reason I tried out Zusack's bestseller was because I loved this novel so much.
This book tells the story of Ed, a 19-year-old cab driver who is doing nothing with his life except pining after the girl he loves - who obviously doesn't love him back. All that changes when Ed starts receiving playing cards in the mail with instructions of sorts - and suddenly he is tasked with making lives better.
This book had fascinating characters, a wonderful story, character development throughout the book, and a lot of ridiculous things going on. It opened my eyes to a lot of problems faced within our communities and how little actions can make a world of difference.
Highly recommended for 13+.
