A Series of Rooms by A.J. Barlowe
5.0
Liam • Jonah…♾️. (never ending)
….
“You’re the best friend I’ve ever had.” - “Yeah… You’re mine, too.”
….
This book closes my ♾️ of 2024. The desperation in me to see them reach their happy ever after together and foremost individually reached a new unknown to me level. By chapter two I was in full on tears. By chapter five I knew certain books are made for my very own weaknesses. By the end I knew if I had a choice of running away with a thousand books or ones like A Series Of Rooms, I would always run away with one.
Mad perfection.
….
Cigarettes After Sex - Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby
.
Ethel Cain - Strangers
.
Halsey - Colors Stripped
.
Taylor Swift - The Archer
….
“336” // “Jonah and the whale…” // “His mark on Jonah clung to him wherever he went, following him like a dark cloud.” // “…the memory of that night had been a warm flame he’d kept shielded between his palms, a singular moment of reprieve like a pinhole of light in the dark.” // “There was one distinct difference, however, separating the past from the present. Before, his misplaced trust had cost him everything. This time, he had nothing left to lose.” // “See you Friday?” // “Liam found he didn’t want to surface.” // “…but maybe something like hope.” // “Anything, if it means getting another week.” // “The idea of Liam existing in a future that Jonah had no part of sat heavy in his chest.” // “Ask me.” // “…grieving for the boy he lost, the boy he had been inside the safety of their bubble, and the goodbye he’d never get to say.” // “You sure you’re alright, kiddo?” - “I’m not. I’m so out of my depth. Help me. I don’t know what to do.” // “…being touched by him with hands just as gentle as the rest of him, had changed something in his chemistry.” // “So I’m keeping that promise now.” // “Liam had always deserved better, and now he knew what better looked like.” // “Meet me in the fall?” …
