I've read this book several times, each time hoping it would be the time I finally pushed through and read the entire series. The first time being in the 7th grade and now most recently 10+ years later. I would always lose interest around the 3rd book.
I finished this in one sitting, eager to get the series finished before the inevitable Disney+ show releases, so I can at least sort of act like I know what's going on when my husband will ask me questions when we watch the show together. I enjoyed reading this, and I don't have much negative to say about it.
A modern take on greek mythology is always fun and I love hearing whatever modern descriptions of god(esses) the author decides to give them. This series doesn't disappoint and is very clever when it comes to gods fitting in with an urban setting. Even 10+ years after release, the book has held up.
Overall I liked reading this and I am eager to finish the series. The only thing that made me roll my eyes is some of the things Percy thought/did, but I am not a 12 year old boy so that might be why he was a little cringe-y at times.
