Clean Cut by Lynda La Plante

2.0

Clean Cut is the 3rd book in the DI Anna Travis series by Lynda La Plante. After giving the first two books in the series 5-star ratings and really enjoying them, I was disappointed to say the least with the third instalment. Clean Cut is heavily focused on illegal immigrants, human trafficking and issues with the justice system and probation. It was pretty bleak.
The plot overall was very complicated and too 'clever'. There were too many threads in the story and I don't think they were fully developed. I also struggled with the writing in this book, the language choices in particular, so I just think it was poorly done overall.
One positive I will highlight was I listened partly to the audiobook narrated by Janet McTeer and what an incredible narrator she is.
I will still carry on with this series as I have book 4 on order from the library, I'm just hoping this one was a dud in the series and I go on to enjoy the following 5 books in the series.
⭐⭐ 2/5
