What I loved most about this beautiful novel about grief was Emily X.R. Pan's usage of colour to describe emotions and atmospheres. It sucked me into the novel straight away and I realised that I love novels where the main character is an artist. Leigh's love for art made me want to pick up my own pencil and sketchbook again and her mom's love for the piano made me want to sit down at mine again.
A beautiful story about grief and remembering your loved ones while letting them go. About moving on with your life after having lost someone in the physical world. About discovering your own culture and where you come from, discovering your family history.
