In spite of some very heavy themes, this was a surprisingly funny and very touching story about a week on Cape Cod with Rocky and her family of a (very) patient husband, quirky adult kids, and aging parents. The book serves as a poignant reflection on motherhood, aging, grief, relationships, and mental health. I am not a mother...nor am I am in my 50s yet...but I still connected with Rocky in a lot of ways. I had been struggling a bit with my recent reads, but this one yanked me right out of the slump.
