The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young

4.0

•This was a highly anticipated book for me and it did not let me down! Adrienne Young has a way of writing a story with magical elements that feel believable - she has really nailed the magical realism genre. I also am obsessed with the way she writes a small town setting, it brings the story to life and feels very immersive

•I don’t want to say too much about the plot but the overall story is about a curse that plagues each generation of Farrow Women and how it has impacted and shaped their lives.

•There was a small romantic element to this and it was written so well, I was swooning over the smallest little gestures (think Mr. Darcy’s hand flex in the 2005 Pride & Prejudice)

•The further into the book I got the more stressed I became over how it would end but I ended up really happy with the way it wrapped up

•My only criticism is that I did find the magic of the curse to get a bit confusing at times but it really didn’t take anything away from the story or ruin anything for me
