Bruh. Why is this book so damn popular? This was an utter slog. On one hand, it doesn’t tell you much about economics. It just gives you facts and figures which seem to support whatever apparently wild and seemingly implausible proclamation the authors have made in that chapter. On the other hand, these proclamations are presented in a very gimmicky, in-your-face manner which seems to simply sensationalise and catch you off guard at first in order to convince you, rather than provide scientific evidence to support the claim. Then, statistics are presented in the same sensational manner which seem to fit the claims. The claims themselves are interesting, that’s why the two stars. But I just can’t get past the pop-sci vibe. That’s why I dropped it halfway and picked it up again months later just to get it over with. I have also skipped those essays at the end. Nope. I’ve had enough, thanks.
