updating this to be 2 stars because respectfully i'm tired of pretending I didn't hate it

I liked it enough that I read it in one sitting, but I expected more of a romance and less morality type drama. def expected more spice. perhaps i’ve just been in a fantasy groove, but I typically don’t gravitate toward books that touch so closely on real life. however, the little details and parallels throughout this book were really well done. while i haaaaated the pregnancy trope right at the end, but I suppose it ties in with that realism. i’ll probably still give more CH books a shot and hope I like them better.
